It is a tool watch made for aviation professionals, and it takes a little swagger to pull one off. It is not a large case that is paired with a clean dial nor a rare complication packed into a small footprint. It is not a slim dress watch nor a popular dive watch. This model is part of the latter two years with the more recent LumiNova used for the lume on the hands and markers. Produced from 1996-1999, not many were made, and they straddle the line between the use of tritium and LumiNova. These Speedmaster Reduced Michael Schumacher editions have become stand-out watches in the Omega neo-vintage market, representing great value for the money, a nice use of color, and a connection to a legend of Formula 1. This 3510.61.00 was produced alongside another version that had the inverse red and yellow colors along with a similar blue model that was made for Cart racing – an American open-wheeled race series that later merged with Indycar. To go along with the Ferrari theme, the dial and sub-dials are in red, while three of the hands are in yellow. At 39mm, the case keeps the signature elements of the full-sized Speedy but is a little more universally wrist-friendly. For this outing, Omega used the slightly smaller automatic Speedmaster Reduced as the canvas for these special editions. Released in 1996, the same year Schumacher joined the Ferrari Marlboro team, this Omega represented the brand's last jump into motorsports with the watch built originally for the track – the Speedmaster.
